Nestled beneath Mont Blanc in Les Contamines Montjoie, we are perfectly equipped to provide you and your friends or family with the ideal alpine break for all seasons. Our year-round home, Chalet la Chouette is a beautifully renovated property just 2 minutes walk from the ski-lift and 10 minutes from the village centre. Over the last three and a half years we have built a solid reputation for our warm hospitality (particularly with family groups) and are noted for the extra thought that we put into welcoming all of our guests.

Above all we want you to leave the chalet and Les Contamines with memories of a holiday that stands out above others, satisfied that you have discovered a very special place; one that you will return to year after year...

The Chalet
Bedrooms
The chalet offers spacious accommodation for 10-12 guests (depending on children:adult ratios) in five newly renovated bedrooms; all beautifully furnished in a fresh yet traditional alpine style, with breath-taking views from every window. We have three large, en-suite, twin/double bedrooms and two which share a spacious bathroom.

The dining room, with french doors opening on to a decked terrace, is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious 3 course evening meal, with local cheeses, wine and coffee. We source some of our own domain wines from Southern Bourgogne and take great pleasure in sharing them with you.

Our breakfasts will set you up for the day, with fresh, French bread, cereals and fresh fruit, as well as porridge and cooked options too. When you return each day, you will be greeted by freshly baked cakes to enjoy in front of the traditional log burning stove.

The open-plan living area has plenty of comfy seating to relax on after a days skiing. Our snug is where you can find the TV with British channels and a selection of DVDs and kids videos. Books and British magazines are also on offer. Both rooms have 'postcard-perfect' views down to the village and up to the stunning 'glacier d'Armancette' and the 'Dome de Miage'.

Food & Wine
Your hosts' enthusiasm for quality in service is never more present than in the kitchen, where they have earned a reputation for exceptional food and exceptional attention to detail and the needs of their guests.

Unrestricted by typical chalet budgets, we are able to purchase high quality produce, and have developed contacts with local suppliers to bring you a range of fresh and delicious home cooked dishes. Emphasis is given to traditional French cuisine, and we offer you the chance to sample local Savoyard recipes too.

To accompany and compliment your evening meal, a selection of wines are available each night. In addition, there is a supplementary wine list to explore. We source some of our own domain wine from Southern Bourgogne and take great pleasure in sharing them with you.

Particular thought is given to the preparation of meals for children (our most exacting guests!). Tasty casseroles, pizzas, chocolate sponges and crumbles are all homemade, and menus are adapted each week to accommodate individual likes and dislikes. From 5 year olds requesting steamed vegetables and brown rice, to teenagers with ketchup and instant gravy addictions - we have seen (and catered for) it all!

Enjoy freshly baked breads, jams, honey, cereal and fresh fruit salad for breakfast, supplemented with perfectly cooked eggs and porridge to set you up for a hard day in the mountains.
Return to homemade cakes and biscuits by the fire, with a selection of hot drinks to warm you up.
Sit back and relax with a glass of wine, whilst the children tuck into their carefully prepared evening meal.
Then discuss the day's events over a delicious 3 course meal with wine, cheese and coffee, as the children snuggle down to watch a DVD in the next room.

Summer is amazing in the valley, especially for families, and we are only too happy to show you why, so come and discover what summertime in the Alps is all about!

During the summer we offer accommodation catering for families, walkers, climbers, sightseers, fishermen, mountain bikers and cyclists.

We are more than happy to operate on a normal, catered basis during the summer and can be flexible over the duration of your stay. For those wanted more freedom, our B&B prices are extremely attractive.

Families
The village has recently launched a new, family orientated activity centre. This 'Centerparcs-style' arrangement is built around a super manmade lake, available for swimming and sunbathing. Surrounding the lake is a high ropes course in the trees, the tennis club, an archery range, crazy golf, a golf driving range and the extensive natural climbing slabs, not to mention stunning views. This development is a real family attraction, around which a weekÕs holiday could easily be spent.

We will help you plan the perfect break for your family and can assist with organizing and booking activities and excursions.

Climbing and Mountaineering
Whether it's Mont Blanc or an evening spent on the village slab's sports routes, Chalet la Chouette offers the perfect base for your climbing and mountaineering needs.

Cycling and Mountain Biking
As a keen mountain-biker and road cyclist, Jon will be running road specific training weeks during selected periods. Please make contact for details and indeed with any specific requests. We can be extremely flexible which means its always worth asking! CRC's are more than welcome... The roads and scenery around LCM are simply stunning from a cycling point of view and with local knowledge added, a fine break is sure to be had; whether that means a testing training regime or a gentle, scenery-orientated schedule - the Alps have it all.

Each year, the Tour de France passes through the area, and it is normally possible to spectate for at least 2 days, whilst being based at the chalet. Contact Jon for details of this year's route.

As the TMB 'walks' right past our front door we are an ideal stopping point. We may even give you a 'sneaky' lift to skip the road section (if required!). Just call us prior to your arrival and we will arrange your well earned night of comfort with us.

Winter
Chalet la Chouette provides the perfect base for your ultimate winter break skiing or snowboarding. On your doorstep (quite literally!) is the picturesque resort of Les Contamines. It's 47 slopes totalling 120km of piste (plus 26km of cross country tracks) and snow parks will keep you busy, no matter what your ability. With a long season and fantastic snow record, as well as indescribable off-piste opportunities, you will be amazed that this location has remained so unspoilt.

If you wish to venture further a-field, a variety of other resorts are a short commute from the chalet. Les Contamines is part of the "Evasion Mont Blanc" area with 425km of slopes. The Evasion domain includes St Gervais, Megeve, Cote 2000, La Giettaz and Praz sur Arly. Chamonix Mont Blanc is just a 30 minute drive away, with access to the Vallee Blanche and some of the world's most spectacular scenery.

You may even find time for a trip through the Tunnel de Mont Blanc for a day trip into Courmayeur, Italy; just an hours drive away.

There are also plenty of activities off the slopes - from snow-shoeing through the woods to moonlit skidoo rides and evening husky-dog sledding. Visit the tourist office website for more information.
