Kaprun (786 m) is located at the foot of the Kitzsteinhorn, approx. 7 km from Zell am See. The area first became well known through the establishment of the first glacial ski area in Austria. The pretty houses lie in the shadow of the Kaprun Castle, which is considered to be the town's landmark. The touristic opportunities are large. Besides various descents for skiers and snowboarders, a further 13 km of cleared winter hiking trails, 18 kilometres of cross-country trails and a unique landscape are waiting to be discovered. Fun and action can be found in the indoor pool, at the bowling alley or whilst paragliding. Those seeking rest can also relax in the sauna.
Zell am See/Kaprun is situated in the heart of Salzburger Land and is one of the most well-known and important holiday regions in all of Austria.
