Zell am See is a lakeside resort, which in winter the lake freezes over enabling you to walk from one side to the other. It offers skiing to suit most abilities and due to it's low lying situation, has back up from the glacier at neaby Kaprun. The resort centre is traditional and traffic free, with the gondola at the end of the town to take you up to the main ski area.
Ziller Valley, secretly called the "most active valley in the world", is situated in the heart of Tyrol with the Ziller Valley Alps, directly on the border with South Tyrol. 650 kilometres of piste, 170 lifts, and snow security at 3,250 m – welcome to Ziller Valley! The "Zillertaler Superskipass" is valid for all 650 km in the Ziller, Gerlos, and Tux valleys. Zell am Ziller, formerly the main resort in Ziller Valley, is situated at 575 m in the hindmost Ziller Valley. Along with Gerlos and Königsleiten, it forms the Zillertal Arena. It is a perfect winter sport area with an entertaining selection of ski areas, après ski, and fantastic restaurants which spoil you with excellent regional cuisine. The resort centre, a pedestrian presinct, invites you to stroll leisurely after an active day on the pistes.
