Because of the resorts location at the shoulder of Mont Blanc, Les Contamines offers realiable snow cover combined with a traditional unspoiled french village. The Mountain restaurants are excellent as is the scenery and resort charm. The skiing suits the intermediate skier well, and offers coverage of nearby resorts in its lift pass.

The resort centre in compact, but the resort as a whole spreads quite widely.

The les Contamines-Montjoie/Hauteluce ski area offers 24 mountain lifts with a capacity of 36'000 pers./hr, 75 miles of downhill runs in the linked Evasion ski area; guaranted quality snow cover (thanks to its 258 snow cannons) and the skiing of your dreams, from the beginning to the end of the season.

This sunny, snow-covered skiing region, lies on the Col du Joly. It has a ski school with 50 instructors, children's ski school for over 4-year olds, kindergarten for children of 12 months to 7 years, baby-club from 2 years 1/2 to 4 years old, 15,7 miles of cross country ski trails, a natural ice rink and a half pipe run, what more could you ask for!.

Torchlight descents by the ski instructors and dog sleigh rides are also available.

Whether you're a beginner or an advanced skier, an off-piste enthusiast, a family skier or a rider, the Les Contamines-Montjoie/Hauteluce ski resort offers the skiing experience you're looking for. Cross country skiing (piste map available via tourist office website)
With the first snow a welcome awaits you at our Nordic Park, an enchanting site, in a typical mountain environment at the foot of the Dômes de Miage. Gliding among forest of pine, clearings and mountain streams, you will discover deep in the valley the historical site of Notre-Dame de la Gorge. The Nordic Park offers many services, two sledging runs for children, 3 km of effortless footpaths, 2 restaurants and 5 ski circuits.

Most of the slopes are above the tree line and there are some magnificent views. There is a terrain-park which is accessed by the fast Tierces chair lift. A second area by the Loyers chair lift is also popular and is flood lit twice weekly.

26 km of groomed runs for classic and skating :
Green run - Les Lacs 4 kms
Blue run- Les Chapelles 6 kms
Red run- Le Belvédère 8,5 kms
Black run- La Ronde des hameaux 7 km

Beginners are well catered for on the nursery slopes in the village when snow cover is adequate. The other areas are at the top of the mid station and the top of the gondola. Virtually all the runs are great for intermediates with plenty of variety to keep you busy most of the week. For expert skiers try the steep descent to Megeve for a challenge. For snowboarders this area offers some of the best off piste.
