Description

The construction of La Plagne (Eng.: Alpine Meadows) as a ski region first began in 1960, between the Valley Isere and the 3,400 high Dome de Bellecote. Just one year later, the first lifts began working and in the course of the year the artificial villages were created around Plagne Centre. Later the designers rather wanted to create a cosy atmosphere and turned towards the chalet style to create their buildings, and so besides the large concrete living blocks, La Plange also offers quaint apartment complexes now. Today there are various stations, each with a different appearance. This is best observed in the evening in the cosy restaurants, as they begin to serve the local savoury dishes, and in La Plagne Centre where the party scene comes into swing. The ten stations are connected throughout the day until 1:00 am through a complimentary shuttle bus, and occasionally with gondolas.
