Description

The village of Anzère faces due south, perched on a plateau, in the heart of the swiss Alps. the village enjoys a mediterranean microclimate. In the region, you can find primitive rural structures and altitude pasture dwellings, made of wood and stone. The pedestians only Village Square is the centre of village life. Constructed in 1965, the development of ANZERE was based on well-studied planning and designed layout. The heart of the resort is called ANZERE VILLAGE which is a pedestrian zone, making it ideal for families with younger children.

Large wooden chalets surrounding the pedestrian square with a good choice of shops, boutiques in a continuous gallery, with restaurants, café terraces, and a playground for children with public benches. Visitors will appreciate this car free open space, safe for children and favoured by parents.

ANZERE is a medium size resort, cosy and friendly. The style of constructions blends well with the mountain environment.

Situated on a high plateau facing south, ANZERE overlooking down the Rhone Valley, with a sweeping panoramic view of the Valaisan Alps where 12 peaks over 4'000m. high, extending from Bitschhorn to Mont-Blanc.

There are plenty of activities to keep everyone entertained and regular events take place, of which details are available from the tourist office.

Hiking
166 km of footpaths cover the region, winding through forests, open space, wine yards, pastures and high altitude areas.
Hikers will discover a unique natural site and the high quality of the trails. The bisses (artificial small water canals), built in the 15th century, run along most footpaths. Two of these bisses lead to the Zeuzier dam which takes 2h30 of walking. The high mountain trails also lead to the Wildhorn Glacier and the Col du Rawyl Mountain Pass at 3’247m.

MOUNTAIN BIKE and DOWNHILL
Anzère has 5 tracks for mountain biking, with a total length of 80km and a downhill track starting at the top of the cable car. Degree of difficulty : black.
A blue track starts from the top of the cable car to the village. Please note: Mountain bikers are not allowed to use hiking trails. Sport shops in the village rent out bikes for the day or by the hours.
