Description

Situated at 1650m Les Deux Alpes is a lively, bustling resort surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery. It is a great choice for all levels of skiers, and is renowned for its excellent snow record and long sunshine hours. The resort has one of the most popular apres-ski reputations, allowing you to wind down after a hard days skiing!

The village centre has a lively and friendly atmosphere, plus an excellent variety of shops & boutiques. There is an outdoor heated pool and ice skating rink which is free with your lift pass. At nightime the resort comes to life and offers lively nightlife in the myriad of bars and inviting restaurants.

Whilst not taking in the varied skiing, we recommend a visit to Venosc (by gondola) a pretty town with cobbled street, craft shops and enticing restaurants which provides a welcome contrast to Les Deux Alpes. The ice sculptures on the main Glacier in Les Deux Alpes is also worth a visit followed by lunch in the mountain restaurant taking in the fantastic views.

A good choice of gondolas and cable cars provides easy mountain access from the village and from here you can take the Jandri Express which takes you to the funicular station and then onto the Glacier. A must for every visitor.

Beginners are spoilt for choice as there are many runs at the village level as well as a chance to access the gentle runs on the glacier, unusual for most beginners to experience. Intermediates are offered over 200kms of piste backed up by the Mont de Lans glacier which ensures year round snow and provides high altitude skiing and the added bonus of runs which lead directly back to the resort. The advanced skier has numerous off piste opportunities which includes the renowned descent to La Grave which is open from late January to April.

Les Deux Alpes offers one of the best resorts in France for snowboarders and is known for its terrain to suit everyone. The boardpark at midstation is well worth checking out with kickers, spines, rails and a boardercross course. The off piste is huge and challenging for the advanced boarder.
