Flattach lies at the foot of the Mölltal Glacier on 699 m above sea level right in the middle of the scenic Carinthia Oberland. The Mölltal glacier is Carinthia's only glacier ski region and therefore offers fun on the piste. With guaranteed snow from October until May. In the past agriculture and forestry used to play an important role in Flattach. But by building the Mölltal Express, which takes you to the Mölltal glacier ski region in just 8 minutes, tourism became more important in the contemplative winter sports. Even through this development the cosy village still kept its familiar charm. The townscape is covered by several restaurants, pubs and of course ski cabins. The conservatory of Carinthia that is on the highest altitude is very famous, the Panorama restaurant "Eissee" is located at an altitude of 2, 800 m. The gigantic glass-steel construction sort of enthrones over the ice and reflects the alp world from the Schareck over the Sonnblick all the way to the Dolomites in its glass surface.
