Description

Morzine is a charming traditional resort located in the famous Portes Du Soleil region of France. The short driving distance from Northern France makes it popular with self drive holidays and easy access to the resort from alpine airports ensures a good flow of people wanting weekend breaks. Morzine is a year round resort and after the blanket of snow has gone, the lush greenery of the surrounding mountains still provide a spectacular setting. The resort is popular with families, but there is plenty of apres ski action should you be in search of it. Morzine was a ski resort even before the First World War, and during the 1920's its reputation as a serious alpine destination was established. The skiing in Morzine is great for intermediates and the shared ski area with Les Gets means you may never have to leave these two resorts if you do not wish to. However, the Portes du Soleil ski area opens up over 650km of ski area for every level of skier to explore. Its increasingly popular with snowboarders because of the extensive slopes, and terrain park in accessible Avoriaz. The slopes in Morzine have very few draglifts and flat areas. The slopes are picturesque and interesting and the more adventurous can hire a guide and go off piste.
